Need An Agent?

TSP believes all players competing at the highest level and or aspiring ambition should seek representation.

If you’re a young player the experience of ‘turning pro’ will be an exciting prospect, but there will also be many important decisions to make.

We have highlighted a number of key areas that should be considered:

  • 1. Contact the Unions
The governing unions are very supportive and offer sound advice on the issues surrounding professional representation. Remember it is your future and they are there to help.
  • 2. Decision
Always meet in person the individual manager who will be representing you. Ensure you discuss matters such as fees and terms with them. Allow time to review the agreement and don’t be intimidated into signing any agreement with the manager immediately. The management group should provide you with a duplicate copy of any agreement and should be obliged to release files or information upon termination.
  • 3. Management agreement
It is important that any relationship between player and manager is put in writing. The management agreement ensures that there are clear, definable boundaries for both parties to build a working relationship around. If you have any doubts over the nature of this agreement seek legal advice for peace of mind.
  • 4. Build a rapport
Regardless of whether you are a future star or an established pro it is imperative that you feel comfortable with the relationship with your management group. After all it is the manager who is employed on your behalf to represent you.
  • 5. Exclusivity
Often the management agreement will define an 'exclusive' relationship between manager and player, this requires a strong level of trust from the player. If you become unhappy or frustrated with your manager make the effort to address these issues, if they persist formally terminate the agreement in writing.
